Pandemic 2 is an online game posted on www.newgrounds.com by user Blips on July 14th 2008. It was sponsored by crazymonkeygames.com and developed by Dark Realm Studios. The game received positive feedback quickly and was awarded with the #1 Daily Feature (July 15th) on Newgrounds and got the Weekly Users’ Choice on July 16th. With close to 2,000,000 views on the website it has received just above 4 out 5 stars. The game has been rated a 4.3 stars out of 5 on crazymonkeygames.com through 20084 reviews and also has a 4.3 rating on kongregate.com with 119733 votes. The game was created after similar feedback on the previous installment Pandemic and includes new and improved gameplay and features.

Objective:
To evolve a disease that eventually spreads and kills the entire human race.

Player Actions:
The player is first given a choice of play mode. Realistic offers the full experience but requires more time and strategy than relaxed mode. Relaxed mode is a limited version but takes a shorter amount of time to play and there is less strategy involved. 
Next the player is given a choice of three different classes of diseases – virus, bacteria, or parasite. Each class has its benefits and drawbacks. The choice of class can affect the difficulty of the game and the strategy of the player.
After given your disease a name it is randomly placed in a place in the world. From here the player most try to spread the disease to the rest of the world.
The player is awarded evolution points that can be spend on upgrades such as symptoms, resistance, transmission and traits. The player is awarded evolution points over time as well as for increasing the number of infected and eventual deaths.

Win and lose conditions
The player will win the game if he or she manages to infect the world and kill the entire human population. A high score is calculated based on different variables such as the amount of time spent.
The player will lose the game if the world manages to develop and deploy a vaccine that may render the disease useless. The player will also lose the game if a country that has not been infected closes down it’s borders and all of it’s transportation in and out the country.

Premise
The game is set in July 2008 and takes place on a map over the world. The narrative is seen from the perspective of the disease that is waiting to take over.

Target Audience
The game is rated T for teen on various websites. The game doesn’t have any foul or sexual language or violence, but does involve the virtual killing of millions. It has been featured under Biology Games on the website surfnetkids.com, a website targeted towards children and parents who wish to play educational games.
